World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to boost an item's gear score up to 700 and add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the Kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For example the perfect roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons don't really change after an upgrade, and aren't worth it.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats such as the chance to crit, attack damage, PvE and damage to PvP. They also have a flat bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. In addition, many weapons have a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon is present on a single unit. In certain instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons also reroll the stats of the base. This is usually a good thing, but it can also have negative consequences. For items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them could render them useless unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.
Upgrades can be made to armor items to improve their performance. In the case of chests or helms, this will increase its base defense while a belt and gloves will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also has an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain after upgrading, as well as the relative value of those stats. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon gaining 33% attack damage. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will be hit 3 times less often, since it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon can be possible by pressing the green button within the item menu with the circling arrows. This will roll an item and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's level or bind it to account status.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE increases in resistance to curses, poison fire, magic, and other. This makes it easier to get through difficult areas. The more defense your character has, the more value you get out of each point of health you have, so it's important to upgrade your armor as much as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and in order to unlock each one you must complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed your main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees required to complete each will vary. In general, you'll need at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For instance the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a decent-sized group of enemies in most cold conditions, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, providing you enough protection to withstand an entire raid with a few friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to work on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power in the case of a Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock perks for your armor. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have a few improvements to the helmets and chest armor that let you stealthy battle some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, provide a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions, each with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. Additionally, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust them.
Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP. This can be earned by crafting them using a craft table or in an chest of the Alchemist. However, the cost of upgrading is dependent on the type of potion you'd like to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.
To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This opens an GUI where you can choose the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll produce when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP level.
When a poton is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade unless you use it again or break the bottle within which it is stored. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few updates to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. For breaking news have a duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the item hover display). The table of potion can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can now be used in both Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be mixed in cauldrons. Also, putting a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the potion and refills the bottle.
There are also simmering potions made with dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion can be enhanced by adding redstone to it. The table of potions has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, like the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to a small ornament or object that serves a function but isn't essential such as a thimble. In some traditions, trinkets are used to symbolize affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons or armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets like other items which can be upgraded can be exchanged at any time without losing stats.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in some cases, dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be bought with tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a brand new trinket. It is possible to upgrade the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl as the previous one, and will include an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
breaking news can be upgraded when they are no longer needed, allowing a player to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players and are a popular alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, then their secondaries and then other items of gear will not be replaced in the near future (for instance an earring or cloak). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. For instance when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks it is recommended that they upgrade their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl after they are no longer useful and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional upgrade bonus of 1. Re-upgrading can cause damage to the trinket unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still less expensive than buying the new one.
