Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a frequent and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they're attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to retrieve upgrade components from items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will take on. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game, and each one has distinct effects. For instance, some upgrades give the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item will receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, and are indicated by an "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either continuously updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more costly, but is readily available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant improvements in stats and are worth the investment.
The player should be aware that upgrading a piece up to the max upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it can also decrease its agility and speed. For this reason, it is generally not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, because the increase in defense is usually not worth the extra weight and power costs of the upgrades required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. For item upgrades , an upgrade may enhance the damage caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of the rifle sniper. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade to apply. These can be obtained by finishing side quests, killing a certain amount of bosses or monsters, or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the more advanced the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Prior to upgrade item : Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.
It's still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment with low upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a better chance of bringing you the best tier of benefits and blessings.
To level up faster, most players will prioritise upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates utilize to increase their power. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to improve the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. They can be made through a process called jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem and a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the grade of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can boost the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boost when slotted into weapons, gear and jewelry.
All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to obtain these. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. However, you can only replace a jewel in a piece of equipment only once.
It is common to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. Jewels also enhance performance and make a surface harder than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots does not cause damage to them.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be exchanged, and can only be recovered with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to give your character various small, but beneficial advantages. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants a small but useful bonus to movement speed and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar fashion to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be used in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and only works with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also compensate for the absence of good slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by the hero's best stats.
As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future. Next, item upgrades that have desirable statistics are less significant than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the start of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand will pick a green or a pink ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets that form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, for instance the main quest of a chapter or destroying a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
