Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or impact when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to select it, and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the item's name. For instance the addition of the suffix Glyph could transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.
Leveling
item upgrades in Path of Exile has some significant differences from previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple items.
Once an item has been finished being leveled and is leveled out, it will be capable of receiving an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it is able to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base type. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will have only two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower chance of success.
To measure the height of a building, engineers will utilize a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to an extremely high degree of precision and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential aspect of the game and can improve the strength, damage or other characteristics. It is possible to do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in the rarest of circumstances.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes that made them more accessible for players to roll. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your needs and requirements from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the greater your chance of obtaining the bonus of a different kind.
The game also comes with number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on a unit. This is a good method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can offer a quicker path to a powerful character and allows them to climb higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be organized in a variety of ways. They can have various dimensions, contain none at all, or contain just one element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They are also useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, most upgrades to weapons do not boost the quality of the item's stats when in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.
Certain set items are upgraded for their unique procs that can be useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into parity with their levels. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general the jewelry and weapons have more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has a newer appearance.
